John Green has collaborated with Snowhome to develop a small range of in-house products and accessories. This venture is a reaction to the might of the mass-produced and expresses a longing for more culturally authentic and ethically made artefacts. This unique collaboration between retailer and designer aims to develop, produce and distribute batch made products with character,charm , soul and unique personality. These products will be available to buy online from the Snowhome website and through selected like-minded independent retailers.
We are proud to launch the Embrace table and storage unit designed by John. Embrace made it's debut in the shop during our 8th birthday celebrations and the initial interest and sales have been very encouraging.
The original brief was set to design a modern take on the Isokon Penguin Donkey. The outcome was “embrace” an award winning piece of furniture, designed to store modern media such as DVD's, CD’s and Magazines.
This smart piece of furniture naturally forms two low modern tables that can then be 'embraced' together in order to form a storage unit / magazine rack / occasional table.
The flowing curves are produced by laminating plywood, which is then skillfully veneered. Laminating consists of bonding together many layers in order to produce one solid shape.
Available in birch, walnut or oak veneers.
Embrace comes in a sturdy box for delivery.
Lead time for first production run is approx 4-6 weeks. We hope to send out the first Embrace's by mid November.
We reserve the right to only ship the Embrace to certain overseas destinations.
Embrace won the CSD (Charted Society of Designers) Student Medal for Product Design - 2007.
Embrace was also a finalist in the Northern Designers Product Design awards - 2008
