In 1911, Mr. Kyugoro Sakata, an engineer from the historic naval port of Hiroshima, was introduced to a fountain pen brought from England by a sailor friend. Fascinated by it, he soon became determined to produce finely crafted writing instruments in Japan with the highest specification and writing performance.

The company thus became the first to produce Fountain Pens in Japan and with time it has gained a reputation for technical excellence and accuracy, enhancing the experience of writing.  Sailor Pen creates fountain pens of high quality and is flawless nibs are known for their precision, smoothness, and quality and are considered unmatched.
