Autumn Transitional

"Autumn Transitional" is a seasonal edit heading that seems all over the place at the moment whenever I browse the web.  But we'd like to give you our take on what we regard as a special, quite exciting season: not just a change in wardrobe but a more general movement.

Yes, you can (and probably should) do the whole wardrobe change thing.  Scarves and caps are certainly the order of the season as we all watch the temperatures on our weather apps dip consistently below 20 for the first time in what seems an age and fight the cooler evenings and the temptation to put our Spring & Summer faves back in the back of the wardrobe.  A good scarf (and yes: linen still works for the better days) and a cap work wonders in this department.  A compact umbrella is always worth carrying if you're dodging cold autumn rain when you're still wearing something lightweight!

But Autumn Transitional is about more than that for us: a change of the season, softness, mists and mellow fruitfulness, beautiful colours, bright watery sunlight, the strange pleasantness of a cooler evening, finding gleaming magical conkers on the floor and about a gradual move back to the cosiness of indoors.  It's a natural break in the year and a time for reflection and remembering: but also a moment rich with the possibilities for something new and fresh.

As I used to get told in school "...a new year; a new term; a new start"
