Meet The Makers - A Pop-up Patisserie

Pop-up Patisserie

Our first pop-up Patisserie event will be taking place in the shop on Friday 11th August 4.00 pm - 6.30 pm; an opportunity to join us for a slow shopping experience created in partnership with two of York's fabulous micro independent food businesses; ShutiShuti Patisserie and Fortress Coffee.

Inspired by European holidays and early evening cafe culture, the shop will host a Rome style coffee bar where you can enjoy Caelen's artisan coffees and Eszter's seasonal patisserie whilst enjoying a relaxed opportunity to trial some of the new additions and firm favourites we have in store.

So, whether you want to sample the scents, try out the stationery or select some thoughtfully sourced items for your summer gifting, there will be plenty of time to explore the shop with all the usual product advice and complementary gift wrapping services available.

To celebrate the first of these events we wanted to take a moment to introduce you to our pop-up partners.

ShutiShuti Patisserie

A discovery on our regular visits to the wonderful Food Circle market in York, ShutiShuti Patisserie (run by Eszter) draws on her artistic background to make beautiful, produce led creations inspired by nature and art.

Eszter is a big believer of seasonality, locally sourced (sometimes foraged) ingredients that work on micro seasons to create small batch, weekly changing menus that minimise waste and showcase the very best flavours nature has to offer at each moment in time.

A moment of pause to enjoy the simple pleasure of nature's offerings from summer berries to autumnal apples, they are a beauty to behold and eat.

Fortress Coffee

Another Food Circle regular, Caelen of Fortress Coffee, can be found serving up the very best artisan coffee from his converted horse box.

For our pop-up patisserie Caelen will be bringing his excellent coffees down to the shop (minus the horse box) where you can enjoy a fabulous range from espresso to a good old flat white to linger over with your cake or take on your walk back home.

By The Way...

... if you haven't heard of the above mentioned Food Circle before and are a fellow good, seasonal food fan we cannot recommend it more. It is top of our York recommendations.
